A textbook definition of marketing would be something along the lines of a process of planning and executing the conception, pricing, promotion and distribution of ideas, goods, and services to create exchanges that satisfy individual and organizational objectives.  To me, it's looking at an entire business from the customer's point of view.

Over the course of more than 25 years, I've developed, and continually strive to refine, an extensive bag of tricks.  Wrapping them all in a methodical planning cycle of analysis, strategic development, tactical execution and evaluation helps to see where we're going so we know when we get there.

Seeing things in a fresh way is an ability that has served me—and those who have invested in me—well.  In order to highlight some of the thinking which has delivered strong results, you will find a select few tactical examples throughout this site.

Creating Value

Understanding the dollar as a symbol of value completely extinguishes the faulty but virulently pernicious perception of money as the root of all evil.  When you earnestly accept a dollar as a form of commerce, you are recognizing the value of the other party's contribution to society.  Likewise, when I spend a dollar I know it has real value because of my work ethic.  Each dollar is a symbol of my contribution to someone's happiness or wellbeing.  Every dollar is important.

Loyalty

Having such a long run at this career in marketing has provided quite a baseline for judging character. To those people I trust—even when our philosophies may be less than harmonious—I am fiercely loyal. In defense of kindred spirits, that loyalty is bulletproof.

Accomplishment

The thrill of building something of value drives my work. Striving for excellence, planning my work and working my plan have paid solid dividends. I love to be proud of my accomplishments and loathe mediocrity, shortcuts and enough to get by.

Appreciation

Double rainbows over Rainier, my wife's smile, my daughter's uncontrollable giggling, my son's fast gait down the sidewalk, sunrise on the Atlantic watching flying fish skim the surface followed by a Sanibel sunset: All these joys are natural, but the time to truly enjoy them is bought with hard work.
